Fast Item Frames rewrites one of the most common decorations in Minecraft. Vanilla item frames are entities, and a museum wall, a shop front or a sorting room holding hundreds of them quickly eats into frame rate. This mod turns item frames into ordinary blocks, so rendering and world updates become much cheaper and large displays stay smooth.
Behaving like blocks also makes frames better citizens of the world. They leave proper breaking particles, work correctly with commands such as setblock, and update the moment the block behind them is broken or pushed by a piston. Several frames can still share a single block space, so existing building tricks keep working exactly as before.
On top of the performance work comes a set of display options. Frames can be dyed like leather armor for 5,713,438 different colors, turned invisible with a sneaking right-click so only the item is shown and rendered larger than usual, and sealed with honeycomb so nothing gets rotated or swapped by accident. Custom item names can be hidden while looking at a frame, the look of invisible frames can be fine tuned to match a resource pack, and existing worlds can optionally convert their old entity frames into blocks as chunks load.
