Alpha Piscium is a high-quality realistic shader pack built to give Minecraft striking, true-to-life visuals. At its heart is real-time global illumination: a screen-space solution based on reservoir-based spatiotemporal importance resampling (ReSTIR), paired with ReBLUR-based denoising to keep the lighting clean.
The sky is handled by realistic, fast atmospheric scattering that follows the Unreal Engine sky atmosphere rendering technique and uses epipolar sampling for light scattering. Real-time volumetric clouds are rendered with the Nubis approach, and shadows rely on rectilinear texture warping for high-quality, adaptive results.
Alpha Piscium uses cutting-edge graphics technology and needs Iris 1.7 or higher. Intel GPUs are not supported, and AMD cards need a driver newer than 22.7.1. For proper lighting at night, PBR resource packs are recommended. Because the global illumination works in screen space, the scene can go dark when you turn back around.
Planned future updates include voxel-based world space tracing, ground fog, cloud shadows on terrain and improved cloud lighting with new cloud types.
