SMAA-MC is a simple anti-aliasing shader pack for players who want cleaner edges without changing the familiar look of the game. At its core is SMAA 1x, short for Enhanced Subpixel Morphological Antialiasing, paired with an improved edge detection step that measures redmean color difference.
The pack targets the jagged, stair-stepped look of diagonal edges and smooths it out while keeping the performance cost minimal. It deliberately leaves color, lighting and large-scale geometry as close to vanilla Minecraft as it can, and ships with a highly optimized vanilla-like rendering base, so the world keeps its default appearance with smoother lines.
SMAA-MC runs on Iris and depends on its compute shader, custom image and entity translucency features, along with GLSL 4.60.8 or newer. A decently modern non-macOS device will probably handle all of this, though updating Iris and the graphics drivers may be necessary.
