The vanilla sidebar scoreboard is on screen at all times, whether or not anything on it has changed. Scoreboard Overhaul replaces it with a cleaner, non-invasive panel that stays out of the way until it actually has something to show, so the corner of your screen is not permanently occupied.
By default the sidebar appears for a short moment whenever a score is updated or the Tab key is pressed, then slips away again. Changed entries are marked with a background highlight so you can see exactly what moved, and an optional flash makes updates even harder to miss. If you are on a team, the panel’s border picks up that team’s color.
Almost everything about the panel is adjustable: how long it stays visible, the background and highlight colors, its size in percent of the current GUI scale, and its horizontal and vertical alignment on screen. There is an always-visible mode for anyone who prefers the original look, and the redesign can be turned off completely to return to the vanilla scoreboard. The mod itself only needs Fabric API, while Mod Menu and YetAnotherConfigLib are what open up the settings screen.
