Vanilla oceans are wide but shallow, and that flatness shows the moment a boat trip turns into a dive. Deeper Oceans doubles the depth of ocean generation, so open water finally feels like open water and the seabed sits far enough below the surface to be worth swimming down to.
The mod build goes a step further than the plain datapack. Vanilla ocean monuments are lowered by 20 blocks so their legs are not left looking out of place above the new seafloor, and a config file exposes both the ocean depth and that monument offset for anyone who wants a milder or a more extreme result.
The whole thing is tiny at 0.01 MB, which makes it easy to drop into an existing world setup or a larger pack. One caveat is worth knowing up front: Tectonic already deepens oceans, so the two are not compatible and should not be run side by side.
