Ben’s Sharks answers a simple question: what if sharks were added to Minecraft? The mod takes a deliberately simple approach to one of the ocean’s most complex creatures, adding 26 new mobs to the game so the water below the surface has something living in it.
Several noteworthy items come along with the mobs, each with its own use. GeckoLib is required, so the mod will not run without it, and adding Just Enough Items lets you look up every crafting recipe in game instead of guessing at ingredients.
The Shark Fin deserves its own note. Sharks never drop it, so there is nothing to gain from killing them; the item sits in the hands of the Illagers instead, and the only way to obtain one is by looting a Pillager Outpost or a Woodland Mansion. That is a deliberate choice, since a third of every shark species around the world is either endangered or flagged under protection.
