Crossroads is a Minecraft technology mod for players who find one-block machines boring. Nothing here processes an item on its own. Every job is done by a chain of small pieces that you wire together, so a finished setup looks like a Rube Goldberg machine that also happens to be the shortest path to the result.
Progression is not gated behind long processing times or quotas of rare ore. It is gated behind your own ability to think around a problem. The early game is steampunk, with heat, rotary and steam treated as three separate power systems that have to be balanced against one another.
The teslapunk end of the mod brings alchemy labs that turn out raw resources in bulk, bioengineering rigs for tinkering with genetics, and workshops where technomancy reaches into time itself. Staffs that shoot lightning and flying vehicles reward anyone who gets that far, and once the chains are running, iron, redstone and most other raw materials become cheap to make.
The mod is built to carry an entire playthrough on its own if you want the extra challenge, and it adds in-game documentation when Patchouli is present, so the mechanics can be looked up without leaving the world.
