Features:
- Caps fuel use to the work remaining, so no wasted overburn on the last item
- Extinguishes a station automatically once its queue is empty
- Pauses fuel consumption and puts the fire out when a station is jammed
- Reworks a jammed queue to use a later craft that can still progress
- Remembers jammed-off stations across server restarts or unloads
- Keeps leftover fuel for the next time the station is lit
- Heat-only burning (empty station) still behaves like vanilla
- All five behaviours can be toggled individually via a config file
- Server-side only — clients need to install nothing
- Works with any game language since it adds no in-game text
- Compatible with dedicated servers running EasyAntiCheat
Fuel On Demand is a lightweight server-side tool for 7 Days to Die that changes how forges, campfires and chem stations consume fuel. Instead of burning a full tick of fuel regardless of progress, it ties fuel use directly to actual work being done.
In practice, this means no more wasted fuel finishing a nearly complete craft, stations that turn themselves off once their queue is empty, and jammed stations that stop burning fuel until space is freed. If a jam can be worked around by reordering the queue, the mod does so automatically, without losing or refunding anything.
Every behavior is optional and can be switched on or off in the mod's configuration file, and settings are preserved separately so they aren't overwritten by future updates.
This is best suited for server admins or single-player hosts who want more realistic, efficient fuel management without changing recipes, UI, or gameplay visuals.
