Total War: WARHAMMER III Patch 9.0.5 Overhauls Victory Rewards

Total War: WARHAMMER III legendary lords on a campaign map screen

Creative Assembly pushed out patch 9.0.5 for Total War: WARHAMMER III on 3 November 2026, and it’s a big one for anyone who cares about campaign rewards. The patch notes are split into sections covering Victory Rewards, Victory Objectives, general fixes, faction-specific changes and battle balance tweaks, with the balance notes posted separately.

The headline change is a full pass on how victory rewards feel. Unique lords and heroes earned through victories now arrive at rank 20, already kitted out with rare items and a unique trait, instead of showing up as weaker, under-equipped versions of themselves.

Named Characters Get New Traits

Dozens of unique characters got bespoke reward traits tied to their playstyle. Khazrak the One-Eyed gets melee buffs and unbreakable status for Ungor, Gor and Bestigor units. Taurox the Brass Bull boosts weapon strength and Minotaur capacity. Morghur the Shadowgrave improves experience gain, magic item drop rates and research speed, while Malagor the Dark Omen leans into spell intensity and monster unit capacity.

Other notable additions: Kroq-Gar gets armour-piercing and executioner bonuses, Louen’s trait strengthens Glorious Charge for himself and his Knights, and Balthasar Gelt now grants double experience for all units in his army along with psychology immunity. Several Chaos-aligned exalted characters, including Prince Sigvald, Festus, Valkia and Vilitch, also had a bug fixed where they were missing access to the Warriors of Chaos blue skill line.

Faction Reward Tweaks

Faction-specific victory rewards saw adjustments too. Beastmen’s Talisman of Chaos now adds combat buffs on top of its existing effects, and the Lizardmen’s long victory reward now boosts Blessed Spawnings capacity across the board. Several Lizardmen legendary lords, including Mazdamundi, Kroq-Gar, Tehenhauin, Tiktaq’to, Gor Rok, Nakai and Oxyotl, had their short victory bundles expanded with extra unit caps, reduced rite costs or new ancillary bonuses. High Elves got a long victory bundle that cuts rite cooldowns, and characters like Tyrion, Alarielle and Alith Anar had their short victory followers and ancillaries buffed as well.

Beyond rewards, the patch includes a large batch of general bug fixes and faction-specific corrections, plus the separately listed battle balance changes. Creative Assembly says it’s watching for urgent issues following release and is asking players to report anything new through the dedicated bug reporting forum with as much detail as possible.

What This Means for Modders

If you run mods that touch campaign mechanics, lord skill trees, trait tables or unit caps, expect some to need updating after this patch. Mods that rebalance victory conditions or add custom legendary lord bonuses are especially likely to clash with the new reward structure. Back up your save files before updating, check your mod list for compatibility notes, and give modders a little time to patch their work if something breaks.
