The Sims 4 Update Adds Food Overhaul and Elder CAS Items

Four elder Sims in new elder-themed outfits sitting in a cozy living room with vintage furniture from The Sims 4 update

EA rolled out a new patch for The Sims 4 on October 27, 2026, labeled PC version 1.129.39.1030 and Mac version 1.129.39.1230. Called Order Up, the update leans heavily on food and dining fixes, alongside a free content drop themed around elder Sims and a couple of quality of life additions players had been asking for.

The headline numbers are steep: more than 150 bug fixes total, with over 25 of those aimed specifically at Dine Out issues that have bugged players for a while. The team said the direction for this patch came largely from community feedback gathered through Discord Q&As, the EA forums and Reddit threads.

Free Elder-Themed Content

The patch adds a batch of Create a Sim items built around elder Sims, including new hairstyles and outfits like cardigans, long dresses and blazers. On the Build Mode side there’s a set of vintage-style furniture and decor, among them an armchair, wall sconces, a floral sofa and new wallpaper. Four Styled Looks and a Styled Room showcase the items, and a fully dressed elder household built with the new content is available on the Gallery.

Muscle and Weight Toggles

Players can now turn muscle and weight changes on or off either for an entire save through Game Options, or per Sim using new self-interactions. The two settings work independently, so weight changes can stay active while muscle changes are switched off, or the reverse. These toggles don’t apply to pets from Cats and Dogs or to Horses.

Dining and Food Changes

The “Open” interaction on fridges now sits at the front of the pie menu instead of being buried under more choices. EA also rebalanced pricing and calories across food and drinks in the base game and all packs, and tuned Sim autonomy so they’ll grab leftovers before cooking something new.

The Family Recipes feature from Businesses & Hobbies grew by more than 375 dishes, with a strong focus on cultural recipes pulled from existing content. A handful of items, like graham crackers, didn’t qualify. A new “Quickly Decorate” option was also added for baked goods that end up out of reach on a counter, fixing routing failures that used to leave players confused.

Other Quality of Life Fixes

Televisions can now be locked to specific Sims or Sim categories, useful for keeping adults off a kid’s playroom TV. Previously scattered self-interactions, like Disable Attraction from Lovestruck or Utensil Preference from Snowy Escape, now live under one “Sim Options” category. Save backup tracking was also adjusted to behave better for players who take long breaks between sessions.

On the bug fix side, EA addressed an endless loading issue tied to overuse of the Move Objects cheat, a white screen crash on certain saves, infants struggling to fall asleep, and a visual corruption bug affecting werewolf transformations. Dining-specific fixes stop Sims from wandering off mid-meal to jog, dig through trash, do university homework, watch TV or give themselves pep talks in the mirror instead of actually eating.

What It Means for Modded Games

Anyone running custom content or script mods should treat this as a standard post-patch check. Game version numbers changed, so mods that hook into CAS, Build Mode catalogs, or autonomy behavior for eating and routing are the most likely to need updates from their creators. Back up your saves before updating, especially if you’re using heavily modified households, and keep an eye on your mod manager or Script Mod warnings in-game. The new Family Recipes expansion and dining fixes touch a lot of autonomy code, so custom career or restaurant mods are worth testing first in a separate save.
