DayZ Badlands Tops 325,000 Sales, Hotfix Due This Week

DayZ Badlands desert landscape with survivors exploring the Nasdara map

Bohemia Interactive says DayZ Badlands has sold more than 325,500 copies across all platforms since launch, with the game hitting a peak of over 435,500 concurrent players during the launch period. The studio called the first week a massive success, both in sales and in the amount of community content already showing up around the new Nasdara map.

To mark the milestone, DayZ Badlands went on sale for up to 10% off. Bohemia also put out a short dev diary video where the team talks about what Nasdara means to them, following a run of blog posts since launch.

Patches and fixes on the way

The first patch for Badlands went out last week and dealt with a batch of issues, though some problems tied to modding and community servers turned up along the way. Bohemia says it is making internal changes so future patches roll out more smoothly, and that the team has been in contact with server owners and modders to improve communication going forward.

A hotfix aimed at crashes and other urgent Badlands issues was expected to land in Experimental as soon as Thursday, October 29, with a Stable release to follow the week after. Patch notes for the Experimental build were shared alongside the announcement. Once that hotfix is out, Bohemia plans a second patch addressing more issues and tweaking some Badlands features, with more dev blogs to come as that work progresses.

Seasonal events

The Halloween event started on Monday, October 26, across Steam, PlayStation and Xbox. Bohemia also confirmed a Christmas event is planned as the last seasonal event of the year, though no details were given yet.

What this means for modders

If you run a DayZ server or rely on mods for Badlands, treat this patch cycle with some caution. Bohemia has openly admitted the last update caused modding and community headaches, and a hotfix plus a follow-up patch means scripts, server configs and custom content could break again before things settle. Back up your server files and mod load orders before updating, and check mod pages for compatibility notes once the Experimental hotfix and its Stable follow-up go live. Server owners should also keep an eye on official patch notes rather than assuming old fixes still apply.
