The Sims 4: October 27 Update Brings 150+ Food Fixes

The Sims 4 characters cooking and dining together in a kitchen scene

Maxis detailed its next Sims 4 base game patch on October 20, with the update itself landing on October 27. The focus this time is food, dining and drinks, and the developer says the patch carries more than 150 bug fixes, tuning changes and a handful of new features tied to that theme.

On the bug side, the team fixed an endless loading screen that hit players who placed lots after heavy use of the Move Objects cheat, along with a white screen bug that blocked some rental saves from loading. Sims can once again order food and drinks from bartenders who are busy with other tasks, and several freezing issues tied to napping and routing have been addressed. A bug that corrupted Fairy Sims visually after a werewolf bite has also been fixed.

Food and dining changes

Sims should now stay seated more reliably while eating instead of popping up mid-meal to chat, and they will stop dumping food in odd spots like display cases. Grilling during bad weather in Seasons and obsessive Pressure Cooker use in For Rent are also getting dialed back. Dine Out gets attention too, with fixes for waiters skipping shifts, customers chatting too long before being seated, and diners leaving food or drinks untouched at checkout.

The patch also expands the Family Recipes feature from Business & Hobbies with more than 375 additional dishes pulled from across the base game and packs, and it rebalances pricing and calories for food and drink items game-wide. On top of that, players get new options to toggle muscle and weight changes separately, either for the whole save or per Sim, though these settings do not apply to pets.

Crash fixes and what comes next

Maxis says the October patch includes roughly 10 new crash fixes, following a similar batch in September. According to the developer, those September fixes “resulted in a notable decrease in crash rates across all platforms.” The team also flagged that many ongoing crash reports trace back to outdated or conflicting mod files, and pointed players toward its modding guide on the EA Forums for safer update practices. A smaller December update is planned next, aimed at top community issues and priority crash reports, with a larger patch expected in early 2027.

What this means for modded saves

Anyone running custom content should back up their save and mods folder before October 27 and expect to update or temporarily remove older Script Mods and Tuning Mods, since food, dining and Sim behavior changes like these are exactly the kind of update that breaks compatibility. Watch for conflicts with mods that touch fridges, recipes, restaurant behavior or weight and muscle sliders specifically, as those systems are getting the most direct changes this round.
