Rockstar Games has finally answered the question players have been asking since the first trailer dropped in December 2023: Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. After two delays and years of speculation, the date is official — and Take-Two Interactive has made it clear that it does not expect the game to move again.
The confirmed release date
GTA 6 arrives on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Unlike the vague “2025” window Rockstar originally gave, this is a firm, dated commitment, and Take-Two has reaffirmed it in its investor updates since the announcement. The rest of the launch picture is already in place. Rockstar confirmed pricing on June 24, 2026 — $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition — and pre-orders opened the following day, with the Vintage Vice City Pack thrown in for anyone who buys before November 20. Digital preloads begin on November 12, and an extended look at the game premieres on Netflix on August 27 before hitting Rockstar’s YouTube channel the same evening.
How we got here: two delays
The road to that date was anything but smooth. Here is the short version:
- December 2023 — the record-breaking first trailer confirms the setting (Vice City and the wider state of Leonida) and a 2025 release window.
- May 2025 — Rockstar pushes the game to May 26, 2026, saying it needs more time to finish the game at the level of polish players expect. A second trailer follows shortly after.
- November 2025 — the date moves one final time, to November 19, 2026, again citing polish rather than any development trouble.
Frustrating as the waits were, the pattern is familiar: Red Dead Redemption 2 was delayed twice as well, and few would argue the extra time hurt the end result.
What about the PC version?
So far, GTA 6 has only been announced for consoles. Rockstar has said nothing about PC, but its track record speaks for itself: GTA V hit consoles in September 2013 and PC in April 2015, while Red Dead Redemption 2 took just over a year to make the jump. A later PC release is widely expected — we have looked at the evidence in detail in our article on why GTA 6 is likely to reach PC after consoles, and at what kind of hardware it might demand in our expected system requirements breakdown.
Why the wait should be worth it
Everything shown so far points to Rockstar’s most ambitious game yet: a modern-day Vice City, a sprawling state to explore, and the series’ first dual-protagonist crime duo. If you want to know more about the pair at the centre of it all, meet Lucia and Jason, the main characters of GTA 6.
November 19, 2026 is closer than it feels. Until then, we will keep tracking every official announcement and credible leak in our news section — and once the game (and its inevitable modding scene) arrives, you will find GTA 6 mods right here on CrashMods.
