The Golf III 1.9 TDI Stage 1 is a lightly tuned classic hatch: a custom ECU remap brings the 1Z diesel to 257 WHP and 356 Nm, and the lightweight chassis keeps the power-to-weight ratio at 4.05 kg/hp.

The interior is fully functional with working lights, wipers, odometer and clock. Rated top speed is 188 km/h, with 212.7 km/h reached in testing.
