Real Dirt Color changes the color of the dirt on all vehicles and tools in Farming Simulator 22 so that it matches the surrounding environment. The script ships with 10 variations — Brown Dirt, Brown Mud, Red Dirt, Red Mud, Grass, Chaff, Manure, Slurry, Lime and Snow — so a muddy field, a limed plot or a snowy track each leave their own tint on the machine. Colors are blended back and forth at a variable speed, so the change never looks like a hard switch.
Two modes are available through the XML settings file: Simple mode and Independent wheel mode, where each wheel picks up its own color. The color change speed is tweakable, and the files in your game’s modSettings folder document the modding options for anyone who wants to fine-tune or extend the system.
Completely revised for FS22, the script has been hardened over several updates: independent wheel colors and vehicle dirt colors now synchronize for all clients in multiplayer, the mod runs on dedicated servers, and vehicles that don’t support it no longer cause errors. The mud color can also use the Mud System mod’s field wetness value to keep mud on the machine until the fields dry, and the separate Real Dirt Color Tracks mod works with independent wheel colors in multiplayer.
