Peugeot 106 GTI for BeamNG.drive
The 106 GTI is a late-1990s French hot hatch built on a featherweight body, and that is exactly what makes it fun here. There is no big power figure to lean on, so this is a car for low-weight handling, corner-entry speed, and clean braking rather than straight-line drama. Its tiny footprint lets it thread narrow roads where wider, heavier cars feel clumsy, and the build backs it up with a detailed engine bay, animated cabin controls, and several configurations.
How it drives
City streets, countryside routes, mountain passes, and compact tracks are its natural home. The light front-wheel-drive chassis carries speed through corners when you brake early and steer smoothly, but late braking washes the front tires wide into tight turns. Steering response is the whole appeal; this is a car for learning clean lines, and it often feels more rewarding on a technical road than something far more powerful. The suspension shows real body movement through quick direction changes, which makes it a genuine handling test.
What’s included
Five configurations with tuning options and their own wheels, plus a solid exterior and interior using PBR materials that react properly to changing light. The engine bay and under-hood area are detailed; openable parts let you inspect it from any angle, and the cabin animates the dashboard, pedals, gear lever, and handbrake. Working mirrors and functional lighting with a proper ignition sequence round it out. Being light, it reacts fast to curbs and bumps, so a sideways curb strike at speed can flip it, useful for comparing parking knocks against higher-speed crashes.
Installing is simple: drop the .zip straight into your BeamNG.drive mods folder — don’t unzip it — and it appears in the in-game selector. New to mods? Our BeamNG. The drive installation guide walks through every step.
🔧 Our Test Notes
Hands-on notes from the CrashMods team
Funny thing: after a stretch of high-powered German metal in our test rotation, the car that had us grinning was the one with nothing to prove in a straight line. The 106 GTI is momentum driving distilled—brake early, keep the speed you've earned, and the featherweight chassis threads narrow roads where bigger cars feel like furniture. Get it wrong and it tells you immediately: brake late into a tight corner and the front washes wide, no drama, just a lesson. That feedback loop is why this might be the best driving teacher on the site—an hour here sharpens how you drive everything else. The detail work deserves a mention too: the cabin animates right down to the pedals and handbrake, there's a proper ignition sequence, and the engine bay is worth popping open just to admire. One warning earned by all that lightness: clip a curb sideways at speed and it can flip where a heavier car would shrug it off, so mind your exits on curbed tracks. Tested on BeamNG 0.38.
