BMW XM for BeamNG.drive
The XM is BMW’s brash, plug-in-hybrid flagship SUV, and this open beta brings it to BeamNG.drive packed with more than 29 configurations, full PBR materials, working navigation, an iDrive 8.5-style cluster, realistic engine sound, and a long list of interactive interior and exterior features. Because it’s a beta, expect more fixes and refinement down the line, but there’s already plenty here to explore.
How it drives
This is a big, heavy modern SUV, and it behaves like one — nothing like a compact BMW sedan or coupe. The fully JBeamed structure means it reacts properly through driving, braking, cornering, and impacts, so it slots into road driving, highway cruising, roleplay, and crash testing. Its size rewards smooth inputs: early braking, gradual steering, and measured throttle keep it composed, which makes it best for players who want genuine SUV mass rather than sports-car agility.
Configs, cabin and presentation
The 29-plus configurations cover a lot of ground, including Label Red, EU, and US versions and yellow-light variants, plus both OEM and aftermarket parts so you can build clean factory looks or heavily customized ones. Inside, the iDrive 8.5-style cluster runs working navigation on the dash, the buttons inside and out actually function, and there’s a working media player with volume controls and custom pre-installed songs for detailed presentation scenes. Full PBR materials, the lit BMW grille, and a startup sequence make it shine in night shots and garage videos, while the working, openable system suits inspection and content creation. The file is listed as scanned by VirusTotal with a 0/63 result, though you should still source mods carefully and check the scanner block before installing.
Installing is simple: drop the .zip straight into your BeamNG.drive mods folder — don’t unzip it — and it appears in the in-game selector. New to mods? Our BeamNG. The drive installation guide walks through every step.
🔧 Our Test Notes
Hands-on notes from the CrashMods team
A big, heavy hybrid flagship changes how you read every road, and we noticed it within minutes: this XM asks for early braking, gradual steering, and measured throttle and rewards all three by staying composed where a hurried driver would be sliding wide. That mass is the appeal, not the flaw, so treat the SUV heft as the feature you signed up for. The fully JBeamed structure paid off in our crash tests too, deforming believably through impacts. Then we parked it and lost another hour in the cabin: working navigation on the iDrive 8.5-style cluster, functioning buttons inside and out, a media player with pre-installed songs, and the lit grille plus startup sequence making night shots easy. With 29-plus configurations spanning label red, EU, US, and yellow-light variants, there is real range here. One heads-up: it is an open beta, so expect ongoing fixes and the odd rough edge. Tested on BeamNG 0.38.
