The Grant Gooseneck Wedge is a heavy-duty car hauler trailer built entirely from steel. It comes in two lengths, 35 ft and 50 ft, with a choice of 96 in or 102 in deck widths and four different axle layouts: tridem, tandem with single wheels, tandem with dual wheels and a lighter single-axle version. The suspension uses slipper leaf springs without shock absorbers, and the multi-axle versions link their springs with equalizer beams, much like the stock flatbed trailer.
Payload capacity changes with the configuration, ranging from just under 2.5 tons on the smallest setup to more than 6.6 tons on the biggest one. Every configuration carries its own VIN plate on the front panel, so you can tell them apart at a glance. The trailer also brings scratch-made modular 16×6 steel wheels, offered with zero offset for single-wheel hubs and a 5.35 in offset for dual-wheel hubs, in four finishes and with matching custom tires.
Loading is handled by two manually operated 9 ft aluminum ramps that live inside the rear of the deck. You unlock them, pull them out with node grab, attach them under either side of the deck and slide them left or right to match the track of the vehicle you are loading. Version 1.3 adds a set of simplified ramps that extend and retract automatically when you click the ends of the platform; they are installed by default on every configuration except the blue 4-seat version, where they clash with the folding rear ramps.
This is a great pick for anyone hauling wrecks, race cars or show cars behind a pickup or medium-duty truck and who wants a realistic, configurable gooseneck rather than a simple flatbed.
